First Farmer On Scene (FFOS)

This course uses realistic farm-based scenarios to help farmers and farm families develop the skills and confidence to respond to serious emergencies before professional help arrives. Through hands-on simulation, participants will practise managing situations such as severe bleeding, major trauma and cardiac arrest in the types of environments where farm accidents commonly occur. Farming remains one of the highest-risk occupations in Northern Ireland, and incidents often happen in remote locations where emergency services may take time to reach the scene. By learning what to do in those critical first minutes, participants can improve safety on their farm, increase their confidence in dealing with emergencies and potentially help save a life.
